Moving!

I moved to Texas this past week with my family. We drove from Virginia to Texas, which was about a 23 hour drive. It sounds a lot worse than it really was, surprisingly. We stopped at a few places along the way. We drove through Virginia, which was basically all farm land, then Tennessee, we stopped in Alabama to have some BBQ, then drove through Mississippi. We also drove through Louisiana and decided we all wanted Po Boys, so we stopped to get some in Lafayette, Louisiana. After three days, we finally made it to Texas.
I took some pictures along the way, so here they are!

We stopped in Alabama to eat some BBQ, but I forgot to take a picture. The next day we were in Louisiana and stopped in Lafayette to eat some Poor Boys at Olde Tyme Grocery. So good!

New York City - July 27, 2013

My family decided to take a somewhat spontaneous trip up to New York this past weekend. We only went for the day, so we didn't get to do too much, but we managed to squeeze in some necessities (most involved food). We decided to have an early dinner at the ever famous Katz's. After shopping and walking around we had to make a last stop at Mario Batali's Eataly to pick up a few items and grab a coffee. That place is magical.

A Katz's, my younger sister, Sophie and I split a matzo ball soup and a pastrami sandwich, both delicious.

Clearly, we weren't intimidated by the portion size.

I had the most delicious pumpkin and maple walnut gelato from Il Laboratorio Del Gelato. We discovered this place a few months ago after we had some hot pastrami's from Katz's. It was right across the street, so naturally we had to check it out, as my whole family has a weakness for gelato. It was no surprise we had to revisit this place.

Sophie had ordered graham cracker and maple walnut.

Later in the day we saw Wafels and Dinges, a Belgian waffle food truck we've seen before in NY. My dad had to try it (so did my sisters and I). We got in line and ordered the Liege Wafel with Spekuloos (I highly recommend). I can honestly say it was one of the most delicious waffles I have ever eaten. I'm salivating just thinking about it. Mmm.
